Patient Journey

From your first visit to ongoing care, we’re committed to making your experience comfortable, personalised, and focused on your needs.

Step 1:
Your First Visit

Your journey begins with a comprehensive assessment designed to evaluate your dental health thoroughly. During this appointment, our friendly staff will perform the following checks:

Head and Neck Examination:
We’ll assess your head, neck, muscles, and glands to identify any potential issues.

Dental Check-Up:
Your dentist will examine your teeth and any existing restorations to ensure they are in good condition.

Oral Tissue Evaluation:
We’ll check the health of all oral tissues, including your tongue and cheeks, to catch any concerns early.

Oral Cancer Screening:
Routine screenings will be conducted to promote early detection and peace of mind.

Gum Health Assessment:
We’ll evaluate the health of your gums to prevent any periodontal issues.

X-Rays (if needed):
If necessary, we’ll take X-rays to gain deeper insights into your dental health.

Jaw Joint Examination:
We’ll assess your jaw joints and how your teeth align with each other.

Photographs (if necessary):
We may take clinical photographs of your teeth as part of our examination and treatment planning process.

After your dentist completes these assessments, they will spend time reviewing your X-rays and photographs with you, discussing your overall dental health and any concerns you may have. Together, you’ll explore your treatment options to ensure you feel confident in your care.

Please allow about an hour for your first appointment, and remember to bring a list of any medications you are currently taking to help us provide the best care possible.

Step 2:
Personalised treatment plan

At Gentle Touch, we treat every patient like family because we believe that great dental care is built on trust and understanding. After your initial assessment, we’re here to support you with personalised treatment plans and compassionate care.

If further treatment is needed, we’ll discuss all available options with you, allowing you to make informed choices that align with your needs and preferences. Once you decide on a treatment plan, we’ll provide you with a detailed outline so you can feel confident moving forward with treatment.

Step 2:
Maintenance

It is extremely important for the long term success of any dental treatment that your teeth and gums are maintained regularly to a high level. We would also recommend that you brush and floss your teeth twice daily, have annual check ups and a hygiene visit every 6 months. Our implant maintenance programme consists of a 3 month post treatment appointment, 6 month post treatment appointment and annual reviews for 5 years post treatment completion. At these appointments we will assess and review the bone levels around your implants, check your gum health and provide oral health and cleaning advice.

After your treatment is completed we offer a free of charge maintenance programme with our oral health educators.
